Our Mission

The Essex Ambulance Association, Inc., is an organization dedicated to providing efficient, high-quality emergency ambulance service to the Town of Essex, Connecticut.

Essex Ambulance Association, Inc., is an all-volunteer ambulance service providing quality care to the residents of Essex and surrounding towns since March 9, 1976. We currently operate two Horton ambulances at the BLS level with paramedic intercept services from Middlesex Hospital. We have 32 members who are all certified at either the Emergency Medical Technician Basic level (EMT-B) or Medical Response Technician level (MRT).

Our highly-trained crews respond to more than 800 calls each year within our Primary Service Area (PSA), we also respond to additional calls for assistance from our neighboring towns.

Our members attend continuing education classes to broaden our knowledge of emergency medicine. Additionally, our members are NIMS compliant as well as Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Epi-Pen certified.

While keeping our growing number of 7,100 friends and neighbors safe in our community we remain fully volunteer, all the while promoting safety in the 12.2 square miles we cover. We rely on donations to keep this service operational. For information on how to donate, please navigate to the Contact Us section.
